Trauma, infiltrates relationships and confuses the entire family. Without specialized care and treatment, from pro's who know the issues full out, with full truth, we end up dealing with so much that with the right information in our heads, we can all learn to do differently.

During the Safety & Stabilization Phase of Recovery, we need help from our clinicians to help establish or identify our closest, intimate social supports. They say it takes a community to raise a child, this is truth. It also takes a community of social networks (family is key) to assist us through recovery.
When families are suffering together, we need right education to help us all to identify, the real, trauma-infused issues and help to understand the symptomatic behaviours trauma and PTSD infuses in our family member.
I dream of living in a world where we as a community one day embrace and support a family member or friend through mental health challenges, as we are now finally able to do with physical issues such as Cancer. It's often only fear of the unknown that keeps us from doing so. The stigma of mental illness, keeps us all still very much afraid, keeping us away from seeking out the help this illness needs to see us all safely through.
In some cases, this fear over-takes us, as we live through what's happening to our family member, fear unconsciously tricking us into believing that what's happening to the one we love, could just as easily be happening to us.
When this injury and illness strikes our family, we all instinctively fight or flee in self-defense.
With the right information, offered as education in trauma-informed, clinical care, we can learn rather to face the dragon, demystifying the resulting illness of trauma and engage together to battle the demon, head-on.
We can't solve relationship issues that develop due to trauma, with the same thinking that caused our relationship problems in the first place. We need to walk all the way through recovery and receive the right information in family, face the real issues trauma creates, and find our way through to live a full life of family wellness together in the end.
This is Real Recovery-Thriving Again In Life-Together.
It takes new information and proper education to understand the full truth of trauma and PTSD. We need full truth, to make our way through to an experience of growth, and enhanced family resiliency.
I agree, we can split the family into pieces and I agree, we have a choice whether or not to go it alone in trauma recovery, or together.
If we love each other, all family members (not just our partners) it's better to walk through recovery together. None of us involved, should ever have to face their healing journey alone.
